The Best of 2008

I'm writing this post from my phone... Since I won't be able to get back to my computer anytime soon. I started a "Best of 2008" post, but I won't be able to finish it before 12. So I just wanted to make a quick unedited list of what I thought was the best styles and stuff in 2008.

Best Item/Trend:
Skinny ties. There was nothing more refreshing than seeing guys hitting the red carpet in a skinny tie. Zac Efron is one of the best examples of a star that who rocked this trend very well.

Best Designer:
Damn, this is such a hard one, but ummm let's see. Ralph? Sean? Marc? Thom?.... I feel like DSquared did a pretty bang up job in 2008, but really guys this is a hard one, hmmm for the sake of giving you one answer I'll say Marc Jacobs- since he basically designs like 3 lines- Marc by Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton... I just feel like that's such a cliche' response. So I'm open to your opinions on this one...

Best New Designer:
Why Bejamin Bixby of course. I'm sorry, but no one ever quite does it like Andre 3000. I am confident in his ability to continue to create classically stylish clothing. If he keeps it up and pushes a little harder, he should be designer of the year in a few years.

Best Dressed Athlete:
David Beckham. I don't even have to expound on this because its so obvious.

Best Dressed Young Star:
Chris Brown. C-Breezy is a young stylish guy and I'll just leave it at that.

Best Style:
Urban Prep. This style is the signature Urban Gentleman look... The modern man must learn to mix the classics with modern trends and following this look is an easy way to get there.

Best Dressed Male All Around
... well from the looks of the survey on the top left section of the site-- Kanye West still seems to dominate. And I agree, he's one stylish dude.

Best Moment in 2008:
Barack Obama becoming President... November 4th 2008 will forever be one of the best days of my life.

Person of The Year:
C'mon that's an easy one. Barack Obama. America and this world just won't be the same. He gives hopes to so many people, and... well, you guys know the deal.

Let Me Know What You All Think Was Great In 2008...
Which stars you liked and didn't like, what styles you liked and didn't like, etc.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! Be safe tonight and don't drink and drive.

Would you rock it?

Barack Obama: My President Has More Swagger Than Yours

Photos of President Elect Barack Obama from Time Magazine... he was spotted by an up and coming photographer in his 20s and did an impromptu photoshoot. My goodness this dude simply gets cooler by the hour- I don't think there's ever been a President this flyy.

this is a cool azz picture but, please dont smoke... it'll kill you.

Style Update: Kanye West

Flaunt Magazine's 10th Anniversary Party
I think 2009 is gonna be the year of the bow-tie, seriously... it's like thats the only option.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas Day 2

Z100 Jingle Ball

Z100 Jingle Ball
This is one of the looks for 2009, one of my looks anyway, that I haven't really seen any stars rock until now- I call it monochromatic (I may come up with a better name later), but I'll expound upon it more in January.

post Christmas shopping in Chanel.

post Christmas shopping
Oh how I do heart a nice letterman jacket.

An Hour Shopping Excursion

If you guys haven't already been shopping, please be sure to go and pick up some quality staple wardrobe items "for the low." Meaning you know those Ferragamos you wanted in September, but you didn't get them because they were $500, well they're probably more like $198 now and that's well worth it especially if they're a pair that you really really like. (For Example....) I'm changing my look and I've been in search of the perfect pair of riding boots- I had seen a couple of really nice pair but they were $300-600 and I mean I just simply didn't have that to spend. I got lucky a few days ago and found a pair of Coach riding boots that were $600, but had gone down to $200 and I mean they're absolutely perfect- and they were the last pair in my size in Georgia! The best deals are hands-down at department stores like Macys. So don't let the new year come in without making atleast an hour visit to your local mall or shopping plaza.

List of things to buy if found at a great deal:
1. Boots
2. Blazers/Sport Coats
3. Leather jacket
4. (if you're a business man) slacks and dress-shirts

(boot above: Kenneth Cole Lace-Up boot, originally $225, online for $139, can be bought in stores for even less range- $79-$129)

standby...

okay, yeah i know.... its been a week plus some. but hey, bloggers need vacas too:-)
im working on some best-of 2008 post for later tonight... so standby guys.

Barack Obama: Pictures of His Designer Choices for the Inauguration

So, just like they did for Michelle and the girls, WWD (Womans Wear Daily) asked designers what should President-Elect Barack Obama wear to the Inauguration. And here's some choices below, which ones are your favorites?

Brooks Brothers

D-Sqaured

Zegna

Kenneth Cole

Marc Jacobs

Nautica

Paul Smith

Rag & Bone

Richard James

Out of them all my favorite is probably the Zegna suits. But as you can obviosuly see its harder to pick out a man's suit from designer sketches than it is to choose a woman's dress. Men's suits are all about the look, feel, and fit of the suit. The fabric used is a vital element and pictures just can't give you an adequate view of them. That said, these designers did a pretty good job in individualizing their styles and clearly whichever suit he chooses will be exquisite.

Just Cuff It

I often meet guys who ask me questions about accessorizing. They feel as if their looks need more, but don't know what to do or what to buy to give them that little bit of extra. The first thing I'll mention is scarves, of course, and watches, and other typical accessories. But it's nice to switch it up and wear something not so common like a cuff.

Cuffs are like the masculine versions of a bracelet, they're usually made of leather and really look good when worn right. Check out these cuffs from Urban Outfitters:

Double Rap Cuff, 16.00

Bed Stu Grindking Cuff, 24.00

Braided Leather Cuff, 12.00

Brad Pitt: The Curious Case of Men in Bowties

These are some pictures from the premiere of Brad Pitt's upcoming movie-- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this movie. Brad is sporting a bow-tie to the premiere which is quickly becoming the number one choice for stars on the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt, Manuele Malenotti and Michele Malenotti
In the light you can clearly see the different color blacks that each guy has on. It's important to try to match your blacks if possible. Usually it's hard to tell the difference, but sometimes it's quite obvious.

Tyrese Gibson, Taraji P. Henson, and Brad Pitt
Tyrese opted for an ascot and velvet jacket- it's okay, but he should have worn a bow-tie:-)

Brad Pitt and David Beckham have both recently developed a love for 3 piece suits as well. I've been spotting them in 3 piece suits more than usual.

Make a Pick: Boxers, Boxer Briefs, or Briefs

I know everyone is always so caught up on their outward appearance, but sometimes guys focus on it so much that they forget about their undergarments. Having nice, clean, well fitting underwear is important-- and trust that women do notice your underwear. So you know, when you and your mate have impromptu sex it's nice when she's sporting a sexy Victoria's Secret bra and sexy undies, well it's the same for you- women like to see their men in nice underwear as well. So throw out those old, stained, holey drawers and get some new ones.

After checking around it seems Nordstrom.com has the best selection, with so many brands and colors and styles. So there's brief, boxer brief, and boxers... I'm a fan of boxer briefs on chiseled guys, but if you have a little belly then wear boxers, and briefs.... well only wear tighty whiteys if you're playing sports to keep the package safe, otherwise it's not that sexy. Brands like American Apparel do make some nicely colored tighty whities, but it seems like a gay male thing- most gay men I know wear briefs so I don't know, to each its own. Any who, check these out:

These basic Calvin Klein boxers are probably one of my favorites. And they're a favorite to most men because they are loose like a traditional boxer, but the elastic band on the waist is like that of briefs, so they fit and feel perfect.

Burberry boxers are obviously sexy.

These Ed hardy boxer briefs are cool and different.

These are the perfect basic boxer briefs, Calvin Klein has some of the best undergarments, they're t-shirts are great as well.

Try switching and up and choosing a different color.

These "brando" brief are too much and too short they look like panties to me, but I'm sure there's a reason why a man would want to wear undies this small, does anyone know? (I'm actually being serious)

To get a pair of these underwear, visit Nordstrom.com

So what do you wear, boxers, boxer brief, or brief and why?

sorry for lack of post...

hey guys, i know its been a few days since i posted... im just doing alot of work on my portfolio and stuff, but there should be a new post soon.

have a great weekend!

Common: Universal Mind Control

I don't have time to give a complete review right now.... but this album is hot. Common is hands down one of the best artist alive--- he and Lupe and Andre 3000 completely keep it real. I love alot of the beats on this album, they're different yet classic. I actually first listened to the album this morning and I'm re-listening to it right now and it really is pretty darn fantastic. "Make My Day" featuring Cee-lo is one of my favorites... it just has that "southern easy living" feel about it, with a little bit of that 50s/60s sound- basically it has the same feel as "Hey Ya" by Andre 3000 and "Go Baby" by Lupe Fiasco. I just like the way he raps... it's a bit old school, but modern at that same time.

Definitely buy this album or buy it for a friend.
